Sharon Sue Wadley, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on October 17, 2025.
She was born on December 18, 1956, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Elwood "Moose" and Louise Burnett.
On September 6, 1975, Sharon married the love of her life, Tom Wadley. From their honeymoon travels through Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado, to adventures as far away as Ireland and England, Sharon and Tom cherished every trip-whether far from home or just a short getaway-as long as they were together.
Sharon enjoyed working alongside Tom on home projects, tending her garden, and baking-especially cookies. More than anything, she loved preparing meals for Tom, a reflection of her deep devotion and care. She also had a lifelong love for animals-whether it was her own beloved cats, cows grazing across the fence, or a family of deer. Her care and nurturing spirit extended beyond people to every living creature.
She attended St. Stanislaus School in Wardsville, Blair Oaks High School, and Cole R-V High School in Eugene, graduating in 1975. Her career included time at Orscheln Farm and Home, the Missouri Department of Revenue, and the Missouri Office of Administration, where she retired in 2011.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Tom; siblings Toni Karlstedt, Gary (Sharon) Burnett, and Joe (Janice) Burnett; sisters-in-law Betty Burnett and Virginia (Eugene) O'Riely; brothers-in-law Harold (Rosalie) Wadley and Mark (Pitt) Wadley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Brenda Chiles Burnett; her brother, Fred Burnett; and her brother-in-law, Vernon Karlstedt.
Sharon expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Tamara Hopkins and all past and present staff and medical technicians who cared for her throughout her cancer journey. To Sylvia, Mallory, Jeana, Tiffany, and Rachel-her final chemotherapy nurses-she extended heartfelt thanks for their care, compassion, and for sharing stories of your families and children, which made her heart smile.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Compassus for their compassionate care and support during her final days.
A special thank you goes to her niece and goddaughter, Melissa Shannon, for checking on her every single day. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 at Riverview Cemetery.
