Irene C. (Schanzmeyer) Rehagen 73, of Taos, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving husband of 52 years and her three children on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Irene was born in Koeltztown, Missouri on February 11, 1952, to the late August and Clara (Jaegers) Schanzmeyer. She was a 1970 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia and celebrated the Sacrament of Marriage to Frank A. Rehagen on August 11, 1973.
With two kids in tow, Frank joined the United States Air Force in 1979, and they began their 14-year military journey to Germany (had baby #3), Delaware and Illinois, making many memories and lifelong friends along the way. They moved back to Missouri in 93' to reconnect and enjoy family life with her many siblings and extended family. They welcomed two sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, and one great- granddaughter along the way. Irene will forever be known and loved as the book-getting, arts and crafts grandma, thanks to her many years and eventual retirement from Scholastics.
Irene is survived by her loving husband Frank Rehagen and three children: David (Min) Rehagen of Frisco Texas, Mya (Joe) Bernskoetter of Taos, and Lacey (Jim) Roark of Westphalia; five grandchildren: Kai Rehagen, Sidney & Gavin Bernskoetter, Raegan (Tyler) Muenks, and Joslyn Roark; one great grandchild, Aria Muenks. She is also survived by seven brothers and four sisters: Gene (Brenda) Schanzmeyer, Mark (Sandy) Schanzmeyer, Leon (Janice) Schanzmeyer, Mike (Freda) Schanzmeyer, Donna Luebbert, Steve (Rita) Schanzmeyer, Gary (Darlene) Schanzmeyer, Debbie (Donnie) Kempker, Susan (Joe) Mederios, Amie (Kevin) Peters, Kevin (Libby) Schanzmeyer; and 34 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Clara Schanzmeyer; brother Eugene August Schanzmeyer; sister Karen Alberti; nephew Clayton Schanzmeyer and niece McKenna Peters.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Westphalia, Missouri, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Fr. Dylan Schrader, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
