FRANKLIN ---- Shawn Kelly McConaha, 64, of Timberland Road, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Concord after a brave three-year battle with cancer.
Shawn was born on May 31, 1960, in Long Beach, CA, the son of Ervin and Katherine "Kate" McConaha. He grew up in Ontario, CA.
From the very start when he was a small boy, he loved to make people smile and laugh and he spread joy wherever he would go, whether it was dancing, singing or telling one of his classic jokes. Even if he didn't know you, he would still have a friendly smile, wave or nod. Shawn was without a doubt one of a kind and he was never afraid to be himself. He grew up boating and water-skiing with his family. He enjoyed anything to do with swimming or water. He even mastered the high dive at just 5 years of age, where he amazed even the instructors at such a young age.
In his fifties Shawn came to New Hampshire to live with his sister, brother-in-law and his two nieces. The move cross country was quite an adjustment, at first, for Shawn. He ended up living some of the best years of his life in New Hampshire. He took any opportunity to show off his water-skiing skills that he still had up until just a few years ago. Shawn also enjoyed playing pool, bowling, playing cards, or any kind of game. He also had a love for cars and loved going to car shows and socializing.
Shawn loved his family and always loved spending time with them. He was always very happy to get the opportunity to hop on a plane and fly out to California as he would stay and visit his family out there. Most recently Shawn even had a job at Hannaford's stocking shelves which he enjoyed very much.
Shawn is survived by his sister Kathy Moulton, nieces Jillian and Janelle, great-nephew Cohen, sister-in-law Patti, nephews Joseph (Maggie) and Jimmy, nieces Ashley (Steven) and Lizzy and great-nieces Makenzie Kay and Sophie. Also, his loving caregivers that became more like a second family to him, Debbie and Mike French, and many friends that he met along the way. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Joe and Johnny, his two nieces Maureen and Jillian Kay McConaha, and his brother-in-law Danny Moulton.
Shawn will be so missed by so many.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 5:00pm in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
