He leaves his daughter, Kayli McGurn who he loved unconditionally, as well as his siblings, Kelli Riel (his Irish twin), Jay Novack, Traci Stuart, Mark McGurn, Paul McGurn and Donna McGurn. He also leaves his nieces and nephews Ryan Novack, Tyler Stuart, Emily Novack, Connor Novack, Shane Riel, Kyle Riel and his great nephew Jules. Shawn also leaves behind his beloved German shepherd “Heff” who he adored and was constantly by his side. Shawn was known to have great jokes and had a great sense of humor. He was kind and had a huge heart and always tried to do the right thing even when he wasn’t able to do so. He was an undying fan of both the New York Giants and New York Yankees. Shawn will be remembered for his large laugh, his fun loving spirit and his big heart.

Shawn You always made me laugh..you helped my mom train the dogs particularly Chloe..they loved you and it made a big impact. It always made me giggle that you gave me the nickname Petttula. You will be missed by many. R.I.P

My condolences to the entire family. Shawn was so full of life that smile of his was unforgettable by many who knew him. When he worked in the O.R. @ Memorial Hospital he always came to my floor for a hug and quick visit. Down the hallway I could hear him say Auntie I love you. I loved him right back. Many of the nurses couldn´t believe how sweet he was. I will really miss our big handsome guy. Rest in peace hon. You were loved
