Donald B. "Don" McGurn
July 15, 1948 – March 17, 2025
Donald B. McGurn, known to many as Don, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 76
in Lubbock, Texas. Born on July 15, 1948, in Venice, California, Don lived a life filled with hard work,
love for family, and a passion for the outdoors.
A dedicated businessman, Don served as the President of Empire Pools Inc., where he built a lasting
legacy in the pool industry. His craftsmanship and leadership helped create spaces of joy and relaxation
for countless families.
In his younger years, Don was an avid surfer, embracing the thrill of the waves and the freedom of the
ocean. Later in life, he found joy in spending time with his family and watching football, cherishing
every moment with those he loved.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Judy L. McGurn (nee: Wyland); his children, Donald B. McGurn II and Marsi
McGurn; and his sisters, Barbi Halte, Geri Brown, and Kathi Dodson and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Parents Frank G. McGurn and Margaret “Peg” McGurn (nee: Hollenbeck), and brother
George Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on April 1st at 2 PM at Singing Hills Memorial Park where friends and
family will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
Don will be deeply missed, but his warmth, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of those who
knew him.
