Shawn Alan Middleton

Shawn Alan Middleton, age 59, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, Washington.

Born in 1966, Shawn was the cherished son of Judy and Jim Jesfield. From the beginning, he shared an extraordinary bond with his mother, Judy, who was not only his parent but also his best friend, closest companion, and each other's greatest strength. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan Lewis Middleton, and his stepmother, Trina Middleton. 

Shawn is survived by his sisters, Shannon Farrell and Kim Silke, his half-sister, Shawna Ericson; his stepsister, Jackie Rock; and his step brother, Timmy Hendrickson. Many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. His niece Ashley Clark and great-niece Bailey Clark were especially close to his heart. 

Adventurous and full of life, Shawn was known for his love of the outdoors. In his younger years, he was a talented snow skier. He loved fishing, the quiet beauty of the water, and the challenge of the catch. With a natural gift for building, Shawn was also a skilled carpenter whose work and creativity left lasting marks in the lives of those around him including the ladies in the neighborhood who came to count on him by helping with odd jobs. Above all, Shawn had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, who brought him joy and companionship throughout his life. 

Shawn will also be remembered for the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. He was a protective and caring brother, a proud and loving uncle and great-uncle, a thoughtful nephew, and a loyal friend to many. His kindness, reliability, and good humor made him beloved in their eyes, and he took pride in being someone people could depend on. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will live on in their hearts. 

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 1:00-3:00p.m. at the home of Jim and Judy Jesfield, 301 Northeast Chinook Drive. Guests are encouraged to dress warmly as it may be held outdoors. This will be a potluck gathering, and all who loved Shawn are welcome to come together to share food, memories, and love in his honor.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
