Sheila Kay Dutton, age 66, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 17, 2025, in the comfort of her home. A graveside service to celebrate Sheila’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Pastor Mike Erdman officiating. Memorials may be made in care of the family and will be designated at a later date. The service will be livestreamed and recorded on Sheila’s obituary page, viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com
Sheila was born on June 14, 1959, in Lyman, Nebraska, to Theodore “Ted” and Joyce (Spath) Ring. A devoted mother and loving grandmother, Sheila’s life was centered around her family. She was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom during her daughters’ early years, a role she cherished deeply. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as reading, puzzle books, and spending quality time with those she loved most. Her compassion, strength, and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Sheila dedicated over twenty years of service to First State Bank, where she was known for her kind-hearted customer service. She concluded her working years at the YMCA as a child caregiver, a position she truly loved and took great pride in. However, of all the titles she held throughout her life, “Nana” was her favorite. Her grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to her life, and she would have moved heaven and earth for them as well as the rest of her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Brandy Horstman (Justin), Becky Finley (Chris), Brittany Hyde, and Brooke Lacy (Kyle); her cherished grandchildren, Shaylee and Kennedy Horstman, Noah, Timothy (Sarah), and Matthew Finley, Jordyn, Riley, and Haylee Hyde, and Dreyvin and Johnathan Lacy. She is also survived by her bonus siblings, Michael Fertig and Marilyn Fertig Barnes; her aunt, Janice Tompkins; and her uncle, Marvin Spath.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Theodore Ring; and her aunts, JoAnn Harrison and Marilyn Sheldon.
