Shelby Gene Green, 85, of Rossville passed away in the early morning hours of November 24, 2025. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jody Thompson of Soddy-Daisy; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Green; nine grandchildren, including Gabby Combs, Abby Combs, Peyton Combs, Cooper Green, Quinton Combs, Annie Grace Combs, Carter Green, Baleigh Green, and Zachary Green; and three great-grandchilden, including Aubrey, Maverick, and Huxley O'Dell.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Faye Spring Green, his son, Bill, four sisters, and one brother.

Shelby never took life too seriously. He loved to make others laugh. His sweet, laid-back nature and good-humored personality made him beloved by all who knew him.

As a young man, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a faithful church-goer until his health kept him homebound. He loved listening to and singing along with gospel songs - especially the Gaither vocal band.

Two to Shelby's passions were watching Tennessee Vols football and crappy fishing. He spent many hours watching the Vols with his daughter, Laura, and many hours crappy fishing with his son, Bill.

Shelby was best known, however, for being a sweet, loving, and attentive husband to his sweetheart, Faye. They spent over 56 years together and only had to be apart for 17 days before he joined her in heaven.

Though his family will miss his loving presence, they are comforted by the hundreds of joyful memories they have of Papaw Shelby and are grateful that he is reunited with Nana Faye once again.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Vincent Estill officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will receive friends 4-8 PM Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
