July 19, 1938 - August 14, 2025
Plymouth - Shelby Jean (Ward) Marques of Ellisville Drive, died August 14th at LifeCare Centers of America. Shelby was born in Blythewood, South Carolina and came to Boston as a young girl. She attended St. Columbkille's School, graduating and attending nurses training at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton.
Shelby (or Jeanie as she was known to family), married Joseph Marques on June 2, 1962, eventually settling in Duxbury where she raised three children. She was blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Shelby moved to Plymouth in 2005 to be closer to family. She retired from her position ensuring quality control at Pixley and Richards Company in Plymouth in 2007. She spent her retirement years delving into her passions of practicing her Faith, organic gardening, raising chickens, loving her dogs and rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
Shelby is survived by her Children: Stephen Marques and his wife Cathy of Mashpee, Bethann Gaffey and her husband Michael of Plymouth and Heather-Marie M. Washburn and her wife Sarah, also of Plymouth; her grandchildren: Billy, Sarah, Amy, Taylor (T.J.), Benjamin, and William (Liam); and great-grandchildren: Christopher, Asher, Alexander and Devon. Shelby also leaves behind her two sisters: Mary Pryor and her husband Bill of Daytona, Florida and Joan Turner and her husband Ron of Deltona, Florida; many cousins, nieces and nephews in and about Blythewood, S.C.
Burial Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cranberry Hospice, Plymouth.
