Nancy Doherty of Arizona, previously of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 3, 1945, Nancy pursued higher education at Northeastern University, where she studied Computer Programming. In an era when few women entered the technology field, she distinguished herself as a true pioneer. Her technical expertise and steadfast dedication earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and peers.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Nancy was a successful entrepreneur. She was the proprietor and creative force behind Petal Pusher Florist in Plymouth, a business she guided with passion, artistry, and unwavering commitment for many years. Her floral arrangements-elegantly designed and crafted with care-became cherished by her loyal clientele and the broader community.
Nancy was also deeply committed to civic service. As a member of both the Lions Club and the Rotary Club of Plymouth, she gave generously of her time and talents to numerous charitable initiatives. Her lifelong dedication to helping others reflected her belief in compassion, community, and service.
Nancy's legacy is one of professional excellence, entrepreneurial spirit, and heartfelt generosity. She will be remembered by family, friends, and all who knew her for her integrity, warmth, and the enduring impact she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen J. Doherty, Sr., of Plymouth, Massachusetts. She is survived by her children: Lynda McMahon and her husband Peter, of Arizona; Joseph Ariel and his wife Emily, of Pennsylvania; and Stephen J. Doherty and his wife Jill, of Massachusetts.
Nancy was the cherished grandmother and great-grandmother of nine grandchildren (one of whom predeceased her) and six great-grandchildren (one of whom predeceased her). She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth, Massachusetts. A memorial service will follow on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with interment at Vine Hills Cemetery, Samoset Street, Plymouth. Following the burial, a celebration of life will be held in the Atlantic Room at the 1620 Hotel, 180 Water Street, Plymouth, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Nancy's memory be made to a charity of one's choice. Her favorite causes included the Alzheimer's Association, the ASPCA, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
