Lindsay Rebecca Briggs, age 40, passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on September 12, 2025 following a courageous fight with a lifelong illness. Born in Weymouth, Ma. on September 6,1985, Lindsay was the loving daughter of Katie M. Vanasse of Carver, Ma. Lindsay attended Sacred Heart Schools in Kingston, Ma from kindergarten to her high school graduation. She continued her education at Stonehill College in Easton, Ma. Here during her senior year, she underwent her first double lung transplant. One of her proudest moments was when she was able to walk on her own across the stage to receive her Bachelors Degree in Communications with a focus in Journalism. While attending Stonehill she acted as the Editor in Chief of the school newspaper, The Summit. She furthered her studies at Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater, Ma where she received her Masters Degree in Education
Lindsay began her professional life as a journalist briefly for Norwood Community Newspapers as well as AOL Patch. She found her true passion when she returned to Sacred Heart High School as an English teacher. She also took much pride in returning to the schools newspaper, The Heart Beat, this time as its faculty supervisor
Lindsay was a dedicated and beloved member of the Patient and Family Advisory Board (PFAB) at the Boston Children's Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital Adult CF Center. She was an active and productive contributor who was an integral member who tirelessly helped make the CF Center an even better experience for her community. She was instrumental in designing the PFAB logo, created artwork and she will be sorely missed. She was always volunteering for new roles and never missed a meeting
Lindsay's first love was her family, especially the newest additions, her nephews Parker and Lincoln. This duo always made her laugh and smile even when she felt her sickest. She especially looked forward to her annual weeklong beach house get together with family and friends. She looked forward to Ice Cream rides with her mother and aunt, porch visits with family and friends and all things Cricut and craft related. Much to the dismay of most of her family and friends Lindsay was diehard New York Yankee fan and counted days to the season opener.
Besides leaving her Mom, Katie, Lindsay was the beloved sister of Mackenzie "Mac/Harry" Briggs, Emily and Richard (brother-in law) Hart, and aunt to their two beautiful children Parker and Lincoln. She leaves one of her best friends, her aunt Merci Vanasse-Vickery
She is also survived by her Uncle Jim and Aunt Marion Vanasse as well as many cousins including Asa, Erin, Avery, AJ and Leo. She is also survived by many relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
Lindsay is predeceased by her sister, Ashley "Bea" Briggs. She was the adored grandchild of the late Richard and Constance Vanasse (Nan and Bop) as well as the late Donald and Marilyn Briggs (Nana and Papa). And favorite niece to the late Steve Vickery.
We would like to take this time to thank Dr. (Joe) Pilewski from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center who was instrumental as Lindsay loved to say saving her life twice; making sure she got two successful double lung transplants. Joe was always a phone call away, going above and beyond to ensure Lindsay got the care she needed and our family will be forever grateful to him and the UPMC team.
We would also like to thank Dr. Ahmet Uluer and the staff at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Uluer was vital in continuing the care Lindsay had found in Pittsburgh. He moved "heaven and earth" for Lindsay in all aspects of her care and especially to ensure her wish to return home for her 40th birthday the week prior to her passing.
Lindsay and her family are truly blessed to have had these two men in her life.
"Despite all her challenges, Lindsay exhibited a zest for life, never feeling sorry for herself, making the most of her time, friends and family. In a world filled with stupidity and waste, she understood and appreciated the essentials" –Martin McGovern
