Mrs. Shender Larietta Brown-McKinney

Shender Lariettta Brown was born December 6, 1957 in Headland, Alabama to the proud parents of Rev. Chester and Lessie Mae (Reaves) Brown. She passed away on October 25 2025 at the age of 67 years.
She was the youngest of three sisters. Coming to Saginaw, Michigan from Alabama she joined Bethel A. M. E Church and became employed at the family business, "Ma Lessie's Day Care". Shender completed two years of education at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, then returned to Saginaw and gained employment at Bethel Church Day Care, and later at Aramark in Buena Vista Township. She enjoyed working along side her sister Mary Alice at their decorating business.
Shender became the bride of Regimond "Box" McKinney in 1997. She was faithful to her Church and shared the gift of her beautiful voice singing with the HCH Choir, Bamecian Ensemble, the Praise Team, the Mass Choir and singing with her sister, Gracie in community choirs throughout the city.
Mrs. Shender L. Brown-McKinney leaves to cherish many precious memories her husband, Regimond McKinney; one sister, Gracie M. Witherspoon; special nieces, Deirdre Hollis-Smith and Devona "Nookie" Hollis; special great-nephews and niece, Jevon Hollis, T J and Amaria Smith; special friends, Becky Hollis and Lacretia; several dear in-laws; god-children; special cousins; other relatives and friends.
Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Alice (Thomas) Hollis; special niece and nephew, Tonja Brown and Devin Hollis; aunts, uncles other dear relatives.
A service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street, Saginaw, Mi 48601 Rev. Dr. Dennis Laffoon Pastor. Burial will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442 at a later date.
