Sherlene Rae (Franklin) Hamilton, born September 18, 1948, in Southern Indiana, passed away in her home in early January of 2025. A loving and compassionate woman, Sherlene touched the lives of many through her kindness, unwavering spirit, and dedication to others.
Sherlene was a proud graduate of Memphis School and a lifelong learner whose professional life was as diverse as her interests. Over the years, she served as a waitress, a teacher's aide at Henryville High School, a cook at West Minster Nursing Home, and worked at Tractor Supply in Sellersburg, IN.
On May 8, 1970, Sherlene married the love of her life, Warren Wilson Hamilton. Together they shared a beautiful life until Warren's passing on February 10, 2000.
A member of Memphis Christian Church, Sherlene found strength and comfort in her faith. She was an avid animal lover and had a heart for service, particularly in her involvement with the WHAS Crusade for Children. Her hobbies included visiting friends, watching classic westerns like "Bonanza," and square dancing, which brought her immense joy.
Sherlene is survived by her dear friends and caretakers, Jay and Penny Cleveland, who lovingly supported her in her later years. She is also survived by her many cherished furry companions who brought her comfort and companionship. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Alice Louise (Elliot) Franklin, her husband, Warren Wilson Hamilton, and her brother, Buck Franklin.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville, IN. To honor Sherlene's generous spirit, memorial donations may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children at www.whascrusade.org.
