Sherry Forrest Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Westover Chapel on Jan. 1, 2026.
Sherry Forrest, 75, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away on December 30, 2025, after a brain tumor diagnosis in July. Her family will honor her life with a visitation on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m., followed immediately by a memorial service at Iles Westover Chapel.

Sherry is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Rob; her daughter, Shannon; her step-children, Laurie and Bradley; and her four cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Sean, Justin, and Kacie. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Connie, Carmen, Shirley and Mary; and many other family members and friends.

A lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, Sherry graduated from East High School in 1968. She dedicated 36 years of service to the State of Iowa, retiring in 2005. Throughout her career, she formed deep and lasting friendships with her co-workers-connections she treasured dearly.

Sherry's heart was always with her family. She was the one who showed up, who cared, who quietly supported relatives and in-laws through difficult seasons and their elder years. Her compassion was steady and unwavering.

She held profound respect for first responders and for all who served in the military. In her later years, she proudly displayed the American flag each day as a small but meaningful expression of gratitude.

Sherry's life was shaped by love-love for her family, her community, and her country. She will be remembered for her kindness, her loyalty, and the gentle strength she carried through every chapter of her life.

The service will be live streamed. Please visit Sherry's obituary page at www.IlesCares.com for the link and to leave online condolences.
