Sharon Anne "Sherry" Weisbruch passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on Thursday, September 25, 2025. She was born on November 17, 1942, in Peoria, Illinois, to Clyde and Loretta (Phelan) Atkins.

On October 13, 1962, Sherry married her husband and lifelong partner, John "Fritz" Weisbruch. Together they shared nearly 63 years of marriage and raised four children: Kelley O'Neil (Mick), Pat Weisbruch (Sheila), Kristy Adams (Chris), and Amy Rita (Dave). Their family grew to include ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren-who Sherry proudly called "the best family ever."

Sherry's tenacious spirit showed in many ways, but especially in her devotion to the Chicago Cubs. Married to a lifelong Cardinals fan, she made sure every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild followed her love of the Cubs. There were many trips to Wrigley Field, each filled with laughter and good memories.

Sherry valued her friendships deeply. Many of her friends were as close to her as family, and the time she spent with them was among the great joys of her life. She was active in Bunco Club, the Hibernia Irish Society, the Dirty Dog Club, Jazzercise, swimming, golf, and bowling, and she also dedicated years as a volunteer at Sophia's Kitchen in Peoria.

Sherry and Fritz enjoyed many years in Panama City Beach, Florida, before spending time traveling across the country, visiting new cities, catching baseball games at ballparks nationwide, and making memorable trips to Hawaii and Ireland.

Christmas was Sherry's favorite time of year. More than anything, she loved having everyone together and celebrating as a family.

Sherry is survived by her husband Fritz; four children; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters Sally Russell, Mary Shipman, and Theresa Sweeney. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Thomas and Patrick.

Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM until time of mass. Fr. Albert Mwita Mung'aho will officiate. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will follow the Mass and a private burial of ashes will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation, in Sherry's name, to Sophia's Kitchen at 105 N Richard Pryor Pl, Peoria, IL 61605.

I am so sad to find out of Sharon´s passing. I was blessed to be one of her recent cnas. She was such a sweet lady and I enjoyed chatting with her. She was determined to get me to be a Cubs fan too. I´m glad I was able to spoil her a bit and show her extra love while I was caring for her. Sending lots of love and my sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.
