Shirley Jean Croft, 78, of Calhoun, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marietta, Georgia on May 27, 1945, to the late Harvey and Naomi Emory Kelley, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Everett Mosley, Virginia Little, Bennie Mosley, and Harvey Kelley, Jr; and a grandson, Vince Allen.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Malcolm Croft; son, James Croft; daughter, Gwen (David) Allen; grandson, Nathanael Allen.
Shirley Croft was a GREAT Christian, a GREAT wife, a GREAT mother and grandmother. She was “Born Again” on February 26, 1971, and attended Concord Baptist Church in Fairmount, Georgia. She was unselfish in all her ways. She put her husband first and her children and grandchildren and others ahead of her own personal needs. ALWAYS. Her husband said he got on his knees EVERYDAY and raised his hands to Heaven and thanked God for the GREAT wife that God gave him. The Bible says: “A prudent wife is from the Lord.” And that was what she was. Her husband said MANY, MANY times that when God wrote about the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:10-31, He had Shirley Croft in mind. And He did. Her husband wrote in his Bible next to those verses: “My wife, Shirley.” Shirley is a GREAT loss to this Earth, but Heaven has gained a GREAT saint. Amen.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Concord Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 12:00 Noon from Concord Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Sutherland officiating. The Parks Family and Bro. David Moody are in charge of music. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Dallas, Georgia, with Bro. David Parks officiating. The young men of Concord Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Shirley Jean Croft.
