Chavez Funeral Home - Fort SumnerShirley Fay (Brady) Garcia 70, passed away on Tuesday September 16, 2025 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Shirley was born October 17, 1954 in Tucumcari, NM to the home of C.O. and Betty (Lumpee) Brady. She grew up all over New Mexico, wherever her dad's job at the NM Road Department took their family. Most of her high school years were spent in Raton, NM, but she graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1972.
Shirley married Joseph "Rudy" Garcia on December 2, 1972 in Tucumcari, NM. Together they made their home in Albuquerque, Grants, and for most of their lives Portales. She was a loving wife and mother.
Shirley attended Clovis Community College and received her Cosmetology license. She was a beautician for over 20 years. She also worked for ENMRSH in Clovis for 10 years, being a caretaker for individuals with disabilities. Shirley was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church in Portales, NM.
Being Nana to her grandkids, brought Shirley the most joy. She cherished all the time she got to spend with them. She also enjoyed traveling, reading books, and visiting with her friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents C.O. and Betty Brady, and one brother-in-law Bob Lee.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years Rudy Garcia of the family home in Portales, NM, her sons Joey Garcia of Portales,NM and Michael (Kim) Garcia of Clovis, NM, one daughter Beth (Matthew) Bell of Bloomfield, NM, her six grandchildren Donovan (Daisy) Garcia of Eden, NC, Daesha (Caleb) Garcia of Crobsy, TX, Andre Garcia of Clovis, NM, Janessa Montano of Bloomfield, NM, Miley Garcia of Clovis, NM, Blake Bell of Bloomfield, NM, and 2 children she loved as her own grandchildren Brayden and Brody LeClear of Oklahoma City, OK, her 3 great grandchildren Achsah Auzenne, Alizah Auzenne, and Desiree Garcia, her sister Kay Lee of Las Cruces, NM, and her two brothers Rusty Brady of Ruidoso, NM and Shannon (Stefanie) Brady of Clovis, NM. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, God-children, other relatives, and many friends.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 29, 2025 beginning at 11AM at St Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at the Fort Sumner Cemetery.
