Shirley Theresa (Wood) Maliszewski was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on August 28, 1928.
Shirley attended St. Michael's School, Lowell, and Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsborough. After her children completed their formal education, Shirley attended University of Massachusetts at Lowell and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper for small businesses in Lowell, and for the Veteran's Administration and the U.S. Postal Service.
An avid reader, Shirley advocated and volunteered for reading programs and school libraries. She served on many committees related to alumnae groups and parent teacher organizations. Shirley was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary and Holy Trinity Seniors.
Shirley and her husband, Charlie enjoyed extensive travel, and life on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Marco Island, Florida.
Shirley is survived by her four children: Janis Maliszewski, Elizabeth Maliszewski Tousignant, Charles Maliszewski and his wife, Heidi Mosbarger, and Ann Frances Maliszewski. In addition, she is survived by her two grandsons: David Maliszewski and his wife, Elizabeth Stamm, and Michael Tousignant and his wife, Christina Riot and her daughter, Moxie Riot.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Maliszewski, her daughter-in-law, Michelle Seybert, and two sisters: Mary (Wood) Kerwin and Eleanor (Wood) McGuire.
Calling hours will be held at Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 340 High Street, Lowell on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment service at Holy Trinity Polish Cemetery, Lowell.
