Alfred A. Labonte Jr., 60, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband to Susan R. (Durfee) Labonte for 31 years, Alfred--known to many as Allen or Al--was known for his generous heart, quick wit, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Born in Lowell on December 21, 1964, Allen was the cherished son of the late Alfred A. Labonte, Sr., and Lillian (Pawelka) Labonte. For 25 years, he proudly worked as an electrician for Lowell Central Electric. To Allen, LCE was far more than a workplace--it was a second family.
Family was everything to Allen. He loved cooking dinners while singing and dancing to his favorite tunes, which also led to creating joyful memories during game nights with his loved ones. He had a true green thumb and took great pride in his yard, tending to it with great care. It wasn't uncommon to find him smiling while admiring his work.
Fishing was one of Allen's favorite hobbies, particularly at Dover Point, where he found peace and relaxation. When not by the water, you could find him crafting beautiful carpentry pieces for his children, putting his skilled hands to work making things filled with love and care.
He was proud to be a Mason and a Shriner, and he loved taking his family to Shriners Hospital parades and rodeos. He also enjoyed making the Christmas tree signs for the Festival of Trees, always adding his own personal touch to each one.
Allen is survived by his three loving children: Mathew Labonte and his wife Erica of Manchester, NH; Jared Labonte of Hudson, NH; and Miranda Labonte of Wakefield, MA; and his adored grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, and Zachary. He also leaves behind his mother- and father-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Durfee, as well as his late brother-in-law, Patrick Durfee, with all of whom he shared many treasured memories and a close bond with.
The oldest of seven, he is survived by his three sisters, Patricia (Labonte) Mondoux and her husband Philip, Kathleen (Labonte) Spaeth and her husband Brendan, and his late sister Diane (Labonte) Seaman and her husband, William Seaman, who both held a special place in his heart. Allen also leaves behind his three brothers: Kenneth Labonte and his wife, Jennifer; Andrew Labonte and his wife, Jill, and Robert Labonte. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Allen's life was one of love, laughter, simple joys, and quiet strength--a man who could light up a room, fix almost anything, and remind you that sometimes, the best memories are made with a song and dance, a day spent fishing, or a perfectly mowed lawn. He leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of warmth and generosity.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Alfred's life on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Alfred's funeral service and interment will be held privately.
