William "Bill" F. Anderson, age 68, a lifelong resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved
husband of Joyce M. (Abisi) Anderson with whom he enjoyed 48 years of marriage.
He was born in Newport, RI on December 16, 1956, and was the son of the late Alden C. and Catherine (McGrath) Anderson.
As a child, Bill lived in many places throughout the country as the son of a lifetime Naval Officer before settling in Lowell. Bill attended Lowell High School where he met "the love of his life," Joyce. He then joined the Navy where he served for several years. Following his service, they were married and raised their beautiful family. Bill achieved a degree from Middlesex Community College and shortly after began his career with Raytheon, where he proudly worked for more than 30 years. He retired in 2020.
Bill loved spending time with his family, especially his four wonderful grandchildren. He looked forward to yearly summer family vacations spent together in the NH Mountains. He loved reading, working in his yard, movies, music, cribbage, and getting together with close friends, Danny, Jimmy & Kenny, to play cards. In his earlier years, he enjoyed coaching Dracut Youth Baseball. He also loved the time he spent with his 2 beagles throughout the years.
In addition to his loving wife, Bill is survived by two children, his son William F. Anderson Jr, his wife Nicole and their children, Drew and Natalie of Nashua, NH, and his daughter, Jillian Underwood, her husband Steve and their sons Jake and Luke of Londonderry, NH. He is also survived by his brothers Alden (Sonny) Anderson and his wife Rachel, John Anderson, and his sister, Sandra Bell. Bill also leaves behind his brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Patty Abisi, Ron and Donna Abisi, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Susan Voorhies and Kathleen Hamel.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at LGH/Tufts for all the wonderful care he received throughout the years.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday. August 11, 2025 at 10am at St. Rita's Parish, 158 Mammoth Rd, Lowell. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
