Shirley (Iverson) McTee, beloved mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 10th in Gig Harbor, WA. She was born on November 12, 1935, to Hjalmer and Ada Iverson of Longview, WA. Shirley's journey through life was marked by love, family, and music.
Shirley graduated from R.A. Long High School, where she met and formed a lifelong bond with Gene L. McTee, whom she eventually married in 1954. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, full of adventure and love.
The McTee family's path led them to various places, including White Pigeon, MI, Klamath Falls, OR, and finally back to Tacoma, WA, in 1973. These moves were a testament to their enduring commitment to one another and their willingness to embrace new opportunities.
In 2005, after sharing 50 wonderful years together, Shirley's beloved husband, Gene, passed away. In the wake of this loss, Shirley made her home in the tranquil surroundings of Gig Harbor, where she continued to pursue her passions. She found joy in music, sewing, and home decorating, creating a beautiful haven that reflected her creative spirit.
Shirley is survived by her four loving children: Kimberly (McTee) Ryor, Tamara (McTee) Peterson, Matthew McTee, and Annette (McTee) Green. She was a proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Shirley's life at a memorial service to be held at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor on Saturday, October 28th, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association, in Shirley's honor.
Shirley McTee's legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to family will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her. She leaves behind a profound impact on the hearts of all who had the privilege of sharing in her remarkable journey through life.
