Shirley A. Radecki, 90, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday surrounded by loving family August 17, 2023 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on June 25, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Stephen A. and Mary (Vargo) Nemeth. On August 29, 1953, in St. Stephen Catholic Church, South Bend, she married the love of her life and as she would say her one and only Thomas J. Radecki, who preceded her in death on January 7, 2005. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Gulyas and Irene Vanslager. Mrs. Radecki is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Dean of South Bend, two sons, David P. Radecki of South Bend and Mark A. Radecki (Cindy) of Niles, MI, three grandchildren; Thomas Dean (Colleen) of South Bend, Amy Dean of LaPorte, IN and Danielle Dean (Chris) of New Port Richey, FL, five great-grandchildren; Linda McCown of Sanford, FL, Timmy McClellan of LaPorte, Reni Dean of Buchanan and James and Rebecca Dean of South Bend. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, enjoyed baking cakes and baked many over her lifetime. She baked and decorated just about everyone's wedding cake in her family. She loved entertaining and hosted many parties over the years. She celebrated her 90th with the best birthday party ever in her home. Her home was always so welcoming to all who entered. She was a great cook and could whip up a meal out of nothing. She was quite active all the way up to her last days. She also loved gardening and was the former Vice-President of the Michiana Garden Club. Her life will live on and be remembered by all the plants she gave to family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday August 29, 2023 (her wedding anniversary) at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where friends may visit for one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Logan Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.
