Southbridge: Shirley S. (Trahan) Splaine, 75, of Charlton St., passed away on Wednesday, April 19th, in the Quabaog Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, West Brookfield, after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Ronald F. Splaine; her daughter, Suzanne Splaine of Bath, ME; her two sons, Ronald Splaine, Jr. and his wife Jessica of Derry, NH and Chad Splaine and his wife Michelle of Southbridge; her brother, George Trahan, Jr., of Arizona; her four sisters, Jeannette Leazott of Texas, Carol Sullivan of Dudley, Marie Paine of Southbridge and Patricia Matte of Southbridge; her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Splaine, Rebecca Giarratano, Brandon Giarratano and Cody Splaine; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Roland Trahan and her sister, Lucille Blood. She was born in Southbridge the daughter of the late George and Genevieve (Wetnicka) Trahan and lived here all her life. She was a 1965 graduate of Southbridge High School.
Shirley was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Masonic Home (now Overlook) in Charlton for 17 years and later did private nursing care before retiring many years ago. She previously worked at the American Optical Co. in Southbridge for 15 years.
Shirley's greatest joy in life was her family and spending time with them.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 27th, at 10:00am in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Wednesday, April 26th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center Activities Fund, 47 E. Main St., West Brookfield, MA 01585.
