Shirley Louise Ward, born on October 24, 1942, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 83. Shirley was a creative, nurturing, and determined woman who brought love and joy to everyone around her. She was a talented seamstress and decorator, an excellent cook, and had a natural gift for making any house feel like a home. She was proud of her many skills-there was truly nothing she couldn't do once she set her mind to it. A devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend, Shirley's greatest joy came from caring for others. She loved both the young and the elderly and had a gentle way of making everyone feel special. Her compassion extended to animals as well-especially dogs, with whom she shared a deep bond. She lived her life with an open heart, always nurturing, giving, and filled with laughter. Her family will forever remember her favorite sayings: "Love you more" and "Just keep moving." Shirley was a woman of faith and an active member of Brightmoor Church, where she found purpose and fellowship throughout her life. She attended Dorsey Business School and worked as a power sewing operator for General Motors, where she contributed her skills in crafting interiors for cars. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Oscar, and by her cherished children Bill (Karin), Tina (Robert), and Wendy (Robert). She was a proud and loving Nana to her grandchildren Nikolas (Anna), Ryan (Alyssa), Joshua (Katie), Andrew, Alec, Noah, Brittany (Brock), and Samuel, and a doting great-grandmother to Amelia, Ava, and Colter. She is also survived by her siblings Wayne (Marsha), Bethel (Carol), Nadine (John), and brother-in-law Jim, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her sister Mattie, and her parents Wilfred and Helen. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home in Novi, Michigan, with a sharing of memories at 5:00 p.m. Shirley will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Shirley, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Shirley will be remembered for her laughter, strength, creativity, and unconditional love. She was a phenomenal mom, Nana, and friend-and her beautiful spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
