Sidney Millstein Obituary

Sidney Nelson Millstein

Dr. Sidney Nelson Millstein DDS, of Ventnor, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on February 26, 1936, in Patterson, NJ, to the late Philip and Anne Millstein.

"Sid" grew up in Fair Lawn, NJ, where he graduated from Fair Lawn High School. He then continued his education by earning his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Rutgers University followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to serve as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Upon completing his service, Sid moved his family to Margate, NJ, where he built a highly respected dental practice for over 40 years until his retirement.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sid was also an active member of the Jewish community, a congregant of Beth Israel, and a former president of the Jewish Community Center in Margate. Sid was affectionately known as "Doc," where his keen sense of humor was well-adored throughout the island. He loved going out to eat daily to share jokes and stories with the numerous friends he encountered. Sid enjoyed a number of sports over the years. He played tennis and golf at the Linwood and Atlantic City Country Clubs and held season tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers. He was also an avid traveler with a keen desire to learn about the customs and culture of the numerous countries he visited around the world. Most importantly, Sid was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

Sid was preceded in death by his adoring wife, Janet, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Andrew (Rosemarie) of Altadena, CA, Edward "Ted" (Jamie) of Ventnor, NJ, Eric (Jamie) of Margate, NJ, Daniel (Jessica) of Chicago, IL; and grandchildren, Adam, Sophie, Zoe, Aidan, Jaden, Lyla, and Nevin. Sid is also survived by his sister, Rona Stein (Millstein) of Harvey Cedars, NJ; niece, Marcy Morris (Stein) of Mt. Laurel, NJ; nephew, Brad Stein of Yardley, PA; as well as stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Sid's life will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Congregation Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, https://www.diabetes.org.

Sid will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I was a patient of Dr Millstein's for many years before he retired. I began bringing my son to him when he was not quite yet 2 and both Mrs Millstein and Dr Millstein were wonderful with a toddler. Rest in peace to both of them. Sending prayers for their family.
