Sondra O. Walker

Sondra O. Walker, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away on September 4, 2024 at Hospice of West Alabama. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Forest Lake United Methodist with Dr. Kevin Thomas officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Downey W. Walker; mother, Claudine Callahan; and father, Coy W. O'Neal.
She is survived by her daughters, Wendy W. Bowles (Scott), Julie W. Tingle (Jeff) and Susan W. Schmitz (Adam); sister, Frankie Burton; grandchildren, Emilee C. Bowles, Ansley E. Chesebro (Andrew), Hailey R. Herrmann (Jack), Mallory A. Tingle, Addison L. Schmitz, and Caroline W. Schmitz; and great-grandson, Robert A. Chesebro.
Sondra grew up in Tuscaloosa in the Forest Lake neighborhood. She attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and a member of the Junior Legue of Tuscaloosa. For most of Sondra's working life she was an Administrative Assistant with various companies including the University of Alabama Student Services, Eastern Machinery Movers and Erectors, and AIG Insurance Company. In later years, Sondra was involved in various activities with Forest Lake United Methodist such as meals on wheels and love stitchers. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Forest Lake United Methodist Church.
