Sonia Maribel Vasquez-Garay, born on September 1st, 1952 in San Miguel, El Salvador, Central America. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. Lived the majority of her adult life in Southern California, up until her passing on July 29, 2023 in Lancaster, California. Sonia is survived by her husband Ricardo D. Garay, daughters Gloria C. Garay, Jeannette C. Garay, Esther E. Meza, and son Erick O. Ruano; and the many grandchildren, and great grandchildren she loved dearly.
Sonia was a very modest woman, who never shied away from lending those in need a helping hand. Whether it be by giving them a home to stay in, feeding them, and/or giving them money she always gave what she could. She was a kind hearted woman, who loved everyone, and she saw the best in everyone. And although not a rich woman, she would give anything to make others happy, and helped others in ways words could not describe.
If you knew anything about Sonia, it would be that she lit up a room with her presence. She was a ray of sunshine, in the lives of so many; especially to her family. She loved dance, and music. Her passions included cooking, and enjoying paranormal tv/movies. She would break into song at random times, just because she was happy. And with all her small gestures of joy, she would make even the gloomiest of days a beautiful and bright one. The world will be just a little bit more dark, and sad without this beautiful, wonderful woman.
Sonia will be dearly missed. But her legacy will live on through her children, who will strive to be as kind, humble, and beautiful souls like their mother. She may be gone, but she will surely never be forgotten.
May God bless you on your journey Sonia. And may you smile upon us, as the angel you now are. We love, and miss you always.
