Sonja graduated from Northfield High School and attended Mankato State University and Dana College. After college, she lived in Bloomington, MN, before moving back to Northfield in 1991. Sonja worked many years as a travel agent, a clerk at Little Six Bingo, and also at Sheldahl and Flaherty's Northfield Lanes (formerly Jesse James Lanes) in Northfield. She enjoyed crafting of many kinds, especially embroidery, decorative painting, and coloring.
Sonja is survived by her daughter Amy Anderson, grandchildren Bix and Kit Pennington, sister Karen Anderson-Gustafsson, brother Karl Anderson, sister-in-law Beth Anderson, five nephews, and other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Pat Simonich, her parents, and her brother Stephan Anderson.
A private burial will be held at Northfield Cemetery.
