Sonjha Belynda McFarlin

Sonjha Belynda McFarlin, 81 of Gay, GA passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Monday at Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, GA.
Mrs. McFarlin was born April 27, 1944 in Opelika, AL the daughter of Joseph Peacock and Annie Lee Stapelton Peacock. She graduated from North Clayton High School, College Park and married John Roger McFarlin on December 26, 1959. Linda, as she was known by most, worked most of her life for the Clayton County School System. She was a member and former pianist for Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gay. She was a talented seamstress and artist. She was an excellent cook and catered many local events.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Laura Deanne Pittman; one brother, Joseph "Buddy" Higgins; two sisters, Nadine Wilson and Billie Higgins.
Survivors include her husband, John Roger McFarlin of Gay; her son, Roger Kevin McFarlin and his wife, Karen of Jonesboro; her daughter, Suzie Hicks and her husband, Kenneth of Waverly Hall, GA; her son-in-law, Curtis Pittman of Gay: five grandchildren, Krystal McFarlin, Matthew Hicks, Cody McFarlin, Michael Hicks and Mitchell Hicks; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Hicks and Oliver Hicks.
