Sonnie Guilbeau Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Sonnie James Guilbeau, 67, of Broussard, Louisiana, passed away on August 18, 2025. He was born on April 27, 1958, in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Sonnie enjoyed boxing as a child. He began welding at 19 when he started working at Hard Metal Welding. Many people in the welding industry loved his work. The most blessed opportunity he received was to weld side by side with his dad at Servco.

On Saturday nights, he enjoyed listening to old classic country music with his extreme favorite, "George Jones". Every morning, he enjoyed having his cup of coffee. And his favorite drink was coke. He loved his family and outdoor cookouts at his son's house. Sonnie also enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and he was an awesome cook. He "loved to love". When family was around, he had the biggest smile. He enjoyed caring for others and was always there for anyone in times of need. Helping others was his passion. Sonnie was a proud son, brother, father, grandfather and friend.

Sonnie is survived by his father, Fernest Guilbeau; children, Scharelle Duhon, Sonnie Touchet, Rocky Touchet (Adel), Farah Guilbeau, and Anthony Guilbeau (Emily Castillo); grandchildren, Triston Daspit, Trinton Hayes, Devon Doiron, Emma and Evan Guillott, Peyton Touchet, Avery Touchet, Ryder Touchet, Lydia Touchet, Chelsea Guilbeau, and Stephen Castillo; siblings, Ronnie Guilbeau, Sheila Maturin, Charolette Grant, Jimmy Rogers, and Vickie Hebert.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sophie Rogers; maternal grandparents, Averal and Rosalie Maturin; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lawerance Guilbeau; and sister, Connie Bailey.

The family extends special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, Our Lady of Lourdes Burn Unit, and Our Lady of the Lake for their compassionate care.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Rd. Broussard, LA from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Words of Devotion will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 W. Main St. Broussard, LA, and interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
