Mr. Sonny Frank Thomaston, 72, of Ellaville, GA, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Ellaville Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ellaville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, Michael Turner, Joe Hall, Travis Brookshire and Allen Veal. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 6:00-8:00PM.
Mr. Thomaston was born February 25, 1951, to William Walker and Margaree Grisham Thomaston. Baptist by faith, he was a member of Ellaville Baptist Church. Mr. Thomaston loved watching westerns, fishing, hunting, camping and carpentry. He enjoyed time spent with family especially cooking for them and playing with his grandchildren. Mr. Thomaston loved sports and liked watching his children play. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Carline Guined, Jackie Thomaston, and Mary Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Thomaston of Ellaville, GA; by two sons, Brandon and Madelynn Thomaston of Waverly Hall, GA, and Jonathan Phillips of Ellaville, GA; by three daughters, Danyel Thomaston of Dublin, GA, Teresa and Travis Brookshire of Box Springs, GA and Carmen Phillips of Ellaville, GA; by a step-son, William David Stewart of Ellaville, GA; two brothers, Jerry Thomaston of Franklin, GA, and Harvey Thomaston of Box Springs, GA; three sisters, Betty Juniewicz of Dahlonega, GA, Frances and Bert Veal, and Margie and Earl Turner all of Box Springs, GA; five grandchildren, Sawyer Thomaston, Walker Thomaston, Breann K. Krohn, Michael Brookshire, and Kaitlyn Brookshire. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
