Sonya Sue (Taylor) Williams
June 12, 1944 - October 5, 2025
Sonya Sue (Taylor) Williams, age 81, of Jones, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, October 14, 2025 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel.
Sonya was born on June 12, 1944, to Guy Everett Taylor and Wilma Jane Taylor. Sonya grew up in Sharon, Oklahoma, where she attended Sharon schools, helped work the family farm and took part in community activities. Her athleticism showed on the basketball court as she enjoyed playing with all of her team mates. Her passion for sports continued has people remember her as one of the loudest Moms on the sidelines of any sports supporting all the players.
On March 10, 1963, she married John Wendell Williams, and together they raised three sons: John Alan Williams, Brad Wayne Williams, and Chad Everett Williams.
Sonya stayed home raising her 3 sons until they were old enough to attend school and then she was recruited to work for Walter Adams and Duane Crow keeping the books for their Farming and Cattle Operation.
Her book keeping skills led her to work for Vestal Hale and Doug McNeil, at McNeil Construction in Vici, Oklahoma. Sonya spent the remainder of her career working for over 20 years as the Human Resources Director at Woodward Hospital, where she was deeply respected for her leadership and compassion. Someone that worked for her described her as a "God send, she handled all the stress and employee chaos with such grace". Sonya's success and dedication brought her out of retirement as she completed her working career working part-time for Northwestern Electric Cooperative in Woodward, Oklahoma. Many lifelong, prominent friendships were developed and maintained throughout her Career and her life.
Sonya defined and demonstrated unconditional love for her family and friends. Her family was her passion. Sonya's favorite past time was supporting anything her family was doing, whether it was supporting her kids, grand kids and their friends in all of their activities or the birth of nieces and nephews to enjoying the birth of many great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed loving and supporting them in many activities while watching all of them grow up and then starting their own families. Her Love, support and passion was also given to anyone that knew her. Many would go to her for guidance, direction and motivation for challenges or struggles they were facing. Sonya never sought recognition or Thanks for the things she did or for those she helped. Her Love was truly unconditional for All that were part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Guy Everett Taylor; her mother, Wilma Jane Taylor; her brothers, Garland Taylor and G.W. Taylor; her sister, Linda Cole; and her grandson, Randy Alan Williams.
She is survived by her son, Alan Williams of Jones, Oklahoma, her son, Brad Williams and his girlfriend Brenda Westenhaver, of Woodward, Oklahoma, her son, Chad Williams and his wife, Marta, of Jones, Oklahoma, her Grandson Braden Williams, currently attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She is also survived by her sister, Trula Stevens and husband, Mike, of Alva, Oklahoma, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Sonya will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her kindness, strength, and love provides a lasting memory on everyone who knew her.
