Spencer Vernon Moore

Spencer Vernon Moore, 76, of Amarillo, TX died Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born in Lubbock, TX, on February 20, 1946, to Lillian and Eldred Moore. When he was a child they moved to Amarillo, TX, where he would live most of the rest of his life. He attended Tascosa High School and WTA&M. He received his degree from Manhattan Bible College and his master's degree from Eastern New Mexico. Spence then served many Christian Churches across Florida and the Texas Panhandle. During his early years, he and his first wife, were singing Evangelists at revivals, over 37 states. He loved Southern Gospel music, and to lead and sing the old hymns in church. His last church was the Community Christian Church in Perryton, TX where he would often say 'this is not the main event'.

Spence in his 'retirement' years continued to be active spending several summers at a variety of Dude Ranches in Colorado, leading rides into the beautiful Colorado mountains. And being the interim pastor for the Christian Community Church in Perryton.

Spence met his wife Marilynn in the Spring of 2012, they were married on the Rim Rock of the Palo Dura Canyon in October of 2013 and resided in Amarillo until his death on March 1, 2022.

He has one stepson Matthew, (Cabrina) and two step-granddaughters, Berlyn and Kaila, who he loved and would often talk about.

As he often would tell folks about death, it was going 'home'. Spence would tell you, 'I'm at the party now'. Until we meet again my darling Spence, sing with the eternal choir in heaven.

The family suggests memorials to Shriners Children's Hospital or to St. Jude.
