Spencer Wimer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Dec. 1, 2022.
Spencer David Wimer of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on November 30, 2022, at the age of 79. "Spence" was born in Evansville, Wisconsin, on October 10, 1943, the son of Burley E. Wimer and Margaret L. (Shantz) Wimer. In 1950, at the age of 7, Spence moved to Arizona with his family. He graduated from high school in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1961, then attended Grand Canyon College for two years. Spence went on to attend Biola College in La Miranda, California, graduating with a Bible major in 1966.
He married Lee Ann Reese Wimer in 1966. They attended Oklahoma University's Summer Institute of Linguistics as applicants with Wycliffe Bible Translators. They served as support personnel in Chiapas, Mexico from 1967-1974. After four years in California, 1975-1979, they relocated to Norman, Oklahoma, where they have lived for 43 years.
Spence was a dental lab technician for 20 years. He retired in 2014 and worked on the maintenance staff for Community Christian School through July of 2022. He was a devoted student of the Bible. He studied, read, and prayed daily. He gave of himself selflessly for 56 years, caring for his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Spence will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, son David Tad Wimer and his wife, Traci of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alison L. Wimer Perkins and her husband, Jeff of Norman, April Dawn Parks McClure and her husband, Joe of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Rachel Michelle Parks Holland and her husband, John of Moore, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Natalie D. Wimer of Oklahoma City, Brooke M. Wimer Burrough and her husband, Blake of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Harrison Tad Wimer and his wife, Leah of Minco, Oklahoma, Magan Stow Sloan and her husband Spenser of Harrah, Oklahoma, Madison Stow Valdez and her husband, William of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Anna Klungland of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Stephen Reed Holland of Moore; along with three great-grandchildren, Cadence Burrough, Regan Burrough, and Paisley Burrough.
"We were so blessed to have you for so many years. You were an amazing husband, father, Papa and friend. You loved your family extremely well. We are sad to lose you, but we are grateful that your faith is now sight. Thank you for your example of grace and mercy. We love and miss you always."
