Stanley George Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home – Greenfield on Feb. 26, 2026.
Stanley Lloyd George

Stanley Lloyd George, "Stan the Man", age 69 of West Allis, passed away, surrounded by his wife, Annette and his four children and was received into heaven on February 23, 2026.

A viewing will be held from 4pm-6pm on Tuesday, March 3rd followed by a funeral service at 6pm at HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME located at 4800 S 84th St, Greenfield, WI. Interment service where military honors will be conducted will be on Wednesday, March 4th at 10am at SOUTHERN WISCONSIN VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182.

Stan was born on December 2, 1956 in Lebanon, IN to Lloyd and Myrtice George. He was a 1975 graduate of Oregon-Davis High School. He went on the earn a bachelors degree in Biblical Literature at Bethel College Mishawaka IN, and his master degree in business at Central Michigan University.

It was at Bethel College that Stan met Annette, his wife of 47 years, they married 14 months later on April 22, 1978.

Stan worked at UPS in the first years of marriage while he completed his degree. In 1980, Stan entered the United States Air Force. He completed his initial training at Lackland AFB, TX, followed with Navigator Training Schools at Mather AFB and Castle AFB in California. His active duty stations included Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY and Minot AFB, ND. He left active duty in 1992 and entered USAFR in 1994. He served at the 440th Air Reserve Unit in Milwaukee, WI and the 911th Air Reserve Unit in Coraopolis, PA. Stan retired as a Lt. Col. after more than 34 years of service on December 2, 1916, his 60th birthday. He also held a civilian position at the 911th as an Air Reserve Technician (ART). It was impossible to tell where his ART position ended and his military duty started.

Stan loved his time serving his country in the USAF but if you asked him, he would tell you that his favorite job title was GRANDPA! When asked if he had a favorite grandchild: "No, you can't have a favorite. I love them all!"

Stan enjoyed reading, computer games, woodworking/carving (but not so much the home repair/remodeling projects Annette had for him to do), hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and spending time with his 6 grandchildren. Stan attended Apostle Presbyterian Church where he was an active member of the Food Pantry Ministry. Prior to this, he was a long time member of Community Life Church of the Nazarene (New Berlin) and Lincoln Place Church of the Nazarene (Lincoln Place, PA).

Stan is survived by his wife, Annette of West Allis, his 4 children; Timothy George (Jennifer) of Maine, Amber McKanry (Bryan) of Milwaukee, Gregory George of West Allis, Nathan George (Brett Smith) of Racine, his 6 grandchildren: Eric, Alexander (Timothy); Natalie, Penelope (Gregory); Skylar, Zoe (Amber); his father Lloyd George of Indiana, siblings: Rebecca McKinney (Cecil), Bradley George (Wendy), Cheryl Flora (Scott), Cathy James (Jesse) all from Indiana. He is further survived by his siblings-in-law, Cynthia Voyles, Adrienne Voyles, Donald Voyles, Brenda Saugstad (Dan), many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Myrtice George of Indiana, and his brother Douglass George of Indiana.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff of The Van Dyke Cancer Center of Milwaukee for their care and treatment of Stan throughout this journey.
