It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley Lawrence Samberg, aged 87, on March 31st, 2024, at Village Shalom. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Stan, also affectionately known as Sonny, was born on July 5th, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri. He cherished his early years with his parents, Sam and Pauline, as well as his older sisters, Helen and Marlene, all of whom preceded him in death.
After graduating from Paseo High School, Stan attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, and was a lifelong Tigers fan. His career began with success as a banking and financial professional before transitioning to commercial real estate development. Stan's professional journey was marked by longevity and success, ending with his retirement in 2006. Throughout his career, he was celebrated for his unyielding integrity, tireless work ethic, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence.
Stan was committed to his family, finding joy in witnessing the growth and success of his children and granddaughter. He remained a steady source of guidance and support, offering his unwavering presence through every challenge they encountered.
Stan was also an animal lover, owning, training and adoring six dogs over his lifetime and passed his love for animals to his children. He was very engaged in his synagogue community, volunteering for various activities and generously supported causes and organizations that aligned with his beliefs.
Stan is survived by a loving family: his wife, Judy, his children, Robin, Corey and Amy (of Tucson, AZ) and his granddaughter, Elli (of San Diego, CA). His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
The family wishes to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Village Shalom, who took exceptional care of Stan. Very special thanks to Cristal Hernandez and Jennifer Reeves for their dedication to Stan's care in his last days.
Graveside services will be held for family and close friends at Mount Carmel Cemetery on Tuesday April 2nd, at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Village Shalom or to the animal shelter of your choice.
