Stella Louise Babel

Stella Louise Babel, age 81, died on March 12th 2025 from complications of Alzheimer's disease, while being cared for by the kind staff at Homestead Senior Living Facility and BAYADA Hospice Care in St. Albans, Vermont. She passed peacefully, in the loving presence of her daughter Michelle; son-in-law Gene, and granddaughter Gabrielle.
Stella was born October 4th, 1943 to Clarence St. Peter and Gabrielle Des Vergnes in Burlington, Vermont. She graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1961. Stella then went to Central Islip School of Nursing, where she became a Registered Nurse. She also received her master's degree in counseling from Stony Brook University. She worked as a registered nurse for over 45 years. She retired from I.B.M as an occupational health nurse, as well as Liberty Mutual Medical as a case manager.
Stella was predeceased by her beloved husband and soulmate, Martin L. Babel; as well as Richard Jackson, who was the father of her children. Stella and Martin retired to Leesburg, Florida where they enjoyed their life together. They enjoyed playing golf, and in the summers, fishing on Lake Champlain. Stella loved life, and enjoyed music, dancing, and exercise. She was a friend of Bill's; her greatest fulfillment was to be of maximum service to God and helping others on their spiritual journey. Sobriety gave her a loving extended family, peace and serenity, and an unshakeable relationship with her loving Higher Power.
Stella loved her family dearly; they brought her joy in life. Stella is survived by her daughter Michelle Depot; husband Gene and granddaughter Gabrielle; Son Michael Jackson; wife Kate and grandsons Ryan and Evan; Stepchildren Perry, Kris, and Kim Babel.
A graveside memorial will be held in the spring, where Stella's ashes will be laid to rest next to her husband Martin, in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Lowell, Vermont; with a celebration of life to follow
