Stephan Michael Rawles, 32, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on
Tuesday, May 24th, 2022.
Born January of 1990 in northern Virginia to Christine Yorty and Patrick Rawles, he graduated
from Oakton High School in 2008. He continued his studies at The Pennsylvania State University
where, in addition to developing a never ending love of Nittany Lion football, he was awarded a
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2015. He began his career in North Carolina as a structural engineer, gaining experience and expertise in a variety of telecommunication roles. At the time of his passing, he was working for the Delta Oaks Group.
Stephan will forever be remembered for his intelligence, sense of humor, and witty comments.
This was evident at an early age playing strategy board games and later participating in
animated discussions on the format of the college football playoff. He loved family holidays,
including trips to Rehoboth Beach and Texas, where his wonderful smile lit up every room. He
will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Patrick Rawles and stepmother Nancy of McLean, Virginia; mother,
Christine Yorty of Plymouth, Massachusetts; grandfather, Peter Bohacek of New York; stepfather
Thomas Yorty of Sarasota, Florida; and stepsister, Allyson Kelly of Berryville, Virginia. In addition,
he will be fondly remembered by countless friends and family members.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 9th, 2022 at 11am ET at St. John Neumann
Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, Virginia. The Mass will be livestreamed for those
who cannot attend.
