Stephanie was born January 21, 1956, in Mobile, Alabama to Joe and Janie Mae Wesley. Stephanie and her husband John Williams wed March 20th, 1976, and were married for 48 years as of this year. They raised four sons and one daughter together and went on to have 12 grandchildren, and their first great grandchild.
Stephanie was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama in a loving home she shared with her 6 brothers and was the oldest of 3 sisters. After graduating from Murphy High School in 1974, she enrolled at Bishop State University. There she would meet the love of life. John Williams was just another college freshman who got her to notice him by sitting in her assigned seat. The seats were in alphabetical order, and he got the order of "Wesley" and "Williams" wrong. What they didn't know that day was that she would become a Williams soon enough. What was "his" became "hers" anyway. She was his "Lady in Red" and his "Teddy B." Stephanie and John moved to Oklahoma in 1982, where they resided and raised their family. Stephanie worked with John at their United Healthcare office until she passed.
Stephanie's family and the Lord were the foundation on which she based her life. She was led to Christ in 1983 in her home by Brother Shipp, a soul winner from Maranatha Baptist Church. She attended the church from then on, creating her other family in Christ. Stephanie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma. We always joked that if she could have skipped the actual children and went straight to the grandchildren, she would have. She was "Nona" to the children in her family, as well as all their friends. She and John loved hosting their family gatherings. Holidays at Nona's house was a tradition filled with love, laughter, and great food. She passed that love for family time, along with her recipes, to the next generation. She was a best friend, a role model, a joker, and a counselor all wrapped into one beautiful soul. There wasn't a role in which she didn't shine.
Stephanie is survived by her loving husband John Williams; Daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Parker; Sons, Jonathan Williams, Justin Williams, Jared Williams, and Jordan Williams; her grandchildren Jodeci, Jasmine, Cameron, Keegan, Tyree Jr, D'onte, Jaliyah, Jaden, Jaxston, Malikai, Lennox, Zola, and Great grandchild, Jiraiya ; her brothers Marshall (Canvas) Wesley; Barry Wesley; her sisters Sharon Wesley and Debra Wesley; and numerous other family members.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joe and Janie Mae Wesley; her brothers; Joseph Wesley; Lionel Wesley; James Wesley; George Wesley.
Open visitation hours will be Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm at John M. Ireland and Son Funeral Home, 120 South Broadway, Moore, Oklahoma 73160.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Maranatha Baptist Church, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008 with Pastor Allen Domelle officiating. Condolences may be made online at www.johnirelandfuneralhome.com
