Rev. Dr. Stephen L. Clark, 69, Pastor of the Greenwood Community Church Presbyterian, died Friday, March 8, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Ann Elizabeth (Davis) Clark.
Dr. Clark was born in Gary, Indiana, a son of Ann (Durand) Clark of West Chester, PA and the late Alan Clark. He, his wife, and family moved to Warwick, RI in 1996.
He was a graduate of Henderson High School (1972), West Chester State College (1976), Westminster Theological Seminary (1984) and earned his Doctorate from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in 2007.
Dr. Clark was chosen Pastor of The Greenwood Community Church Presbyterian in 1996.
Alongside his mother, he leaves his cherished children, The Rev. Stephen L. Clark (Kimberly Brodie) of Bonita Springs, FL, Lydia May (Jae Abraham) of Milbury, MA and Hannah Rae Clark of Fairborn, OH, his loving siblings, Alan E. Clark (Karen) of Newark, DE, Glenn W. Clark (Dawne) of West Chester, PA, Mark Clark (Mary Grace) of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Carol Liedike (Chuck) of West Chester, PA, and Linda Vilbert (Jim) of Downingtown, PA, and his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his children, Dr. Clark was most proud of over 38 years in ordained ministry, including as Associate Pastor at the American Protestant Church in Bonn, Germany; Associate Pastor at New Providence Presbyterian Church in New Jersey; and Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Berwick, PA, as well as missionary work in Germany and Poland. He loved playing his guitar for the kids at Vacation Bible School (and frequently broke his strings). He also took pride in completing five marathons, including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC, and climbing 21 of the 46 highest mountains in his beloved Adirondack Mountains. He was particularly proud of his days as a defensive lineman on the West Chester State Football Team and was forever a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:00AM at The Greenwood Community Church, 805 Main Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and Friends are invited and may call at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 3:00PM – 7:00PM.
Burial will take place in The Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, PA.

Lydia, Stephen, and Hannah - I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your dad´s involvement at WBCA, including broken guitar strings at chapel, and the time he dropped weights on the gym floor to illustrate Hebrews 11:1.
May God hold you up at this time, and may you find comfort in fond memories of him.
