In Loving Memory of Stephen (Steve) Cochrane
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen (Steve) Cochrane, on September 19th, 2023. Steve leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. Steve is survived by his wife Maryann Donovan, their children Kylie, Kameron, and Skyla Cochrane, mother-in-law Marie Donovan, his first wife Gillian (C.J.) Webber Tevlin and their children Laura (Shawn) Emerson, and John (Alexandra) Cochrane. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Rebecca Emerson, his siblings Ken (Sandy) Cochrane, Keith (Lori) Cochrane, Peggy Chastain, sister-in-law Pam Cochrane, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Art and Beth Cochrane, brother Paul Cochrane, brother-in-law Robert Chastain, nephew Jaren Chastain, father-in-law Richard Donovan, and brother-in-law Gregory Donovan.
Steve was a dedicated family man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed watching sports, texting his family and friends, singing with his pet cockatiel Toby, and fishing. He always made time to indulge in some chocolate ice cream, chips, and his favorite soda pop. But most of all, his greatest happiness came from spending time with his children and boasting about their and his grandchildren's many achievements.
Steve's childhood in Salt Lake City, Utah was filled with sports, bike rides with his siblings, fishing trips, and summers at his grandparents' farm. Some of his fondest memories later in life included attending Mets games, Broadway shows, and the US Open. After earning a business degree from the University of Utah, he served in the Utah National Guard Reserves, and as a missionary for the LDS church in Bristol, England where he met his first wife, Gill. Steve then began his lifelong career in the airline industry working for Trans-World Airlines (TWA) and Aeromexico, spanning three decades. His journeys covered six continents, taking him down the Nile River and to the ancient steps of Machu Picchu. It was during his time at TWA that he met his current wife of thirty years, Maryann. After many years in New Jersey, they eventually settled in sunny Arizona, where Steve spent the last 24 years of his life. He found fulfillment in his work at U-Haul, where he received multiple awards, and treasured moments of relaxation watching TV with his family and enjoying many conversations.
Steve was deeply loved – as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will forever be remembered for his stellar character, patient heart, and unwavering commitment to both his work and his family. His legacy will continue to inspire us all.
We invite you to celebrate the life of this remarkable man, whose impact touched the lives of many.
