Stephen Louis Cohen, 56, of Vestal, NY, passed away April 24, 2025 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his partner Kay Mathias; step-son Nicholas (Kimberly) Mathias of Albany, NY; father David Cohen of Binghamton, NY; siblings, Gregory Cohen of Breckenridge, Colorado, Theresa Kaufman of Olney Maryland; Gigi Tuthill-Clifford of Naples, Florida; and Andrew Cohen of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces and nephews, Jack and Olivia Kaufman, Oliver and Charlie Cohen; uncle Robert Teuchtler; aunts Mary Toulouse and Helen McHugh and many cousins.
Stephen is predeceased by his mother Ruth Teuchtler and his grandparents, Charlie & Dorothy Cohen and Robert & Margaret Teuchtler.
Stephen was an artistic and creative soul who could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He had recently returned to school to become a registered nurse and was working at the State Hospital. He loved reading and spending time outdoors, especially fishing from his boat on the St. Lawrence River. A skilled woodworker and cabinet maker, Stephen always had a project in the works. He was also an animal lover who cherished time with his beloved cats and dogs.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 28th, at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St., Binghamton, NY 13901. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Stephen will be buried at Temple Israel Riverside Cemetery, Conklin, NY.
