Stephen M. "Steve" Kaufman Sr., 69, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on November 11, 2025. Born in Glendive, Montana, Steve lived a life filled with laughter, love, and good-hearted mischief.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Steve found his greatest joy in family. He shared a wonderful life with his wife, Joan "Joni" Kaufman, and was the proud father of Deana (Jeff) McClimon, Kelley (David) Hawk, and Stephen (Stephany) Kaufman Jr. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren - Elijah, Claire, Kamryn, Lukas, Kaiden, Adam, Jordan, Owen, Adelyn, and Cash - all of whom brought him endless pride and joy.
Steve was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and his knack for giving people a hard time - always out of fun and love. He enjoyed old war movies, fishing, cooking, woodworking, and playing games with friends and family. He was also a proud "band dad," rarely missing an event or activity his grandkids were involved in. Whether at the shooting range or one of his favorite restaurants, Steve loved being around people who could take a joke and give it right back.
He worked for many years installing security systems, a job he truly enjoyed because it allowed him to meet new people and lend a helping hand - something that came naturally to him.
Steve is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings Rod, Craig, Audrey, and Bryon. He was preceded in death by his sister Cheryl, and his parents, Iven and Elizabeth Kaufman, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Those who knew Steve will remember him for his laughter, loyalty, and the way he could make any room brighter - usually with a joke or a good-natured tease. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00 pm Monday, November 17, 2025 at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Crematory, 1605 S. State Road 135, Grenwood, IN 46143. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends honor Steve by sharing a laugh, a good meal, or a favorite story in his memory.
