Stephen P. Koontz, age 54, of Trenton, passed away on August 16, 2025.

Born on October 31, 1970, in St. Lucie County, Florida, Stephen was the beloved son of Dennis and Beth (Stewart) Koontz. A devoted partner, father, son, and brother, Stephen lived with a generous heart and an infectious sense of humor. He never met a stranger and was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought.

Stephen was a proud and loving "girl dad," always hands-on and actively involved in the lives of his children. He stepped into the role of father without hesitation and made it his own, embracing every moment with humor and love. He was a constant, dependable presence especially to his daughter Abigail, who trusted him completely, even if she didn't always believe his jokes.

A natural jokester and gentle teaser, Stephen had a gift for making people smile. Whether he was fishing, collecting rocks and fossils, or lovingly pestering the kids, he brought laughter and joy into the everyday.

He is survived by his better half of 13 years, Jennifer Gay; his daughter, Abigail Koontz; step-sons, Daniel and Alex Gay; his father, Dennis (Pam) Koontz; sister, Lisa Koontz; niece, Caitlyn Widmor; and nephew, Gary Widmor.

Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Beth Koontz, and his brother, Matthew Koontz.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
