Euna (Horton) Bolen of
Middletown, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on August 19th, 2025.
Euna was born in
Middletown, Ohio, to Earl Osbert Horton and Cora Ann Horton. She is preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters, Carolyn Russell, Vada Horton, and Mary Wood.
She was a 1964 graduate of Middletown High School, and in that same year while attending her sister's wedding, met the love of her life, Andy Bolen. The two were married on July 23, 1965, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, a testament to their enduring love and devotion. Together they built a beautiful family, raising five children: Jon (Patty) Bolen of Middletown, Steven Bolen of Middletown, Mark (Kathy) Bolen of Lebanon, Vada (Woody) Kemp of Indianapolis, IN and Patti (David) Quante of Chocowinity, NC. Euna cherished her role as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, blessing her family with endless love and support. She and Andy were proud to welcome 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren into their family.
Euna worked at several businesses over the years, including Barnitz Bank, Gough Lamb Dry Cleaners, the Madison High School cafeteria, and for many years she cleaned homes with one of her best friends Mary Townsend of
Middletown, OH.
She also volunteered at Spring Hill Church of Christ serving in the children's ministry and in Tuesday School where she taught children about Jesus. Her and Andy also faithfully cleaned the Church for many years.
Of all of her jobs, the one she loved the most was being a homemaker, a wife, a mother and a grandmother.
Euna's hobbies reflected her heart for family she delighted in watching her children and grandchildren play sports and in gathering with family and friends. A faithful member of Spring Hill Church of Christ, she modeled her Christian faith daily through kindness, humility, and service. Her family and friends remember her as witty, resourceful, independent, and selfless-a God-fearing servant who never met a stranger.
She was well known for her amazing strawberry pies, fried chicken and special way of making corn. The corn was so good in fact, that it was given its own name… "Euna-Corn." No one ever left Euna's house hungry.
In 2014, Euna bravely faced and overcame breast cancer, ringing the victory bell on August 18th. True to her generous spirit, she celebrated by baking her famous chocolate chip cookies for the hospital staff who cared for her throughout her treatment. After her battle with Breast Cancer, she seemed to actively be looking for women with shaved heads so that she could share her testimony and ensure that they had support and that they knew the Lord.
Euna's legacy of faith, love, humor, and strength will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Services for Euna will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Springhill Church of Christ located at 2021 Brell Drive,
Middletown, OH 45042. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 with a service beginning at 1:00. Graveside service at Woodside cemetery to follow. The family would like to make memorial contributions out to Hospice Care of Middletown in loving memory of Euna.
