Stephen "Steve" C. Kopcha Jr., 55, of Swanzey and formerly of St. Louis and Columbia, Missouri, and Birmingham, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home after a period of declining health on Monday, January 1, 2024, with the love of family near.
He was born a son to Avis A. (Becker) and Stephen C. Kopcha Sr. on September 1, 1968, in St. Louis, Mo. He attended and graduated from Seaholm High School in Birmingham, MI. class of 1987. Steve continued his education at the University of Michigan earning his bachelor's degree in liberal arts, class of 1991.
Steve worked for River Valley Community College in Keene for many years as a tutor. Before that, he worked for Campbell-Ewald Company in Detroit, designing advertising media spending plans, and after moving to New Hampshire, he worked for several years at the United Church of Christ in Harrisville.
Stephen enjoyed many hobbies in life such as the stock market, sports- especially Michigan Football, attending his nieces and nephews' sporting events, animals, and his dog Ashley. Steve was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity through the University of Michigan. He also served in the Focus Youth Group at the First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, MI.
Mr. Kopcha is survived by his parents, Avis and Stephen Kopcha of Swanzey, his three siblings, Kristine E. Lynn of Concord, Joseph G. Kopcha and his wife, Allison of South Orange, N.J. and Michael J. Kopcha and his wife, Lisa Kinnare Kopcha of Chesterfield, along with his 5 nieces and nephews, Charlotte Lynn, Daniel Kopcha, Eli Kopcha, Ryan Kopcha, Molly Kopcha, extended family and friends.
Calling hours at the Cheshire Family Funeral Home will be Saturday, January 27 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by brief services there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
