It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Stephen Scott Lesperance, who left this world on June 13, 2025, in Marshfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 54.
Born in Stoughton and raised in Norwood, Steve also spent many meaningful years in Taunton, places that helped shape the warm, witty, and endlessly curious person he became. He was the beloved husband of Erin (DeHaven) Lesperance, the love of his life, with whom he shared 26 beautiful years of marriage, and a devoted father to Jake and Paige, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his loving mother, Jeanne Lesperance of East Sandwich, MA, and his brother, Michael Lesperance of Arlington, VA. He was predeceased by his father, Irving Lesperance.
Steve had interests galore-from sports, gardening, history, and movies, to Halloween, creepy old houses, and graveyards. He loved old music-from classical to 60s blues and introducing his family to the artists that impacted him, as well as playing his electric and acoustic guitars. A man of real Yankee ingenuity, he could fix just about anything or find a clever solution to any problem. His mind was endlessly curious, his hands and feet constantly working, and his heart always open.
A graduate of Bridgewater State University with a degree in Geology, Steve worked his way up through various roles across multiple companies. Most recently, he was proud to serve as an Asset Manager at MBTA, where his detail-oriented nature and deep sense of responsibility made a lasting impact.
Steve was deeply selfless, always putting his family first. He never missed a school event, family celebration, or important milestone-often shaping his work schedule around his children's lives, even turning down promotions that might pull him away. His presence was constant, his support unwavering. He was known for his amazing storytelling, quick wit, and flawless comedic timing. A true "glass half full" kind of guy, Steve brought infectious joy and enthusiasm to everything he did. He found joy in the simplest pleasures, things like relaxing on the couch with his family and pets, being near or in any body of water, or doing a project in the backyard.
Steve made friends everywhere he went but held a particularly strong bond with his high school friends-a tight-knit crew with whom he shared decades of adventures, laughter, and loyalty. He also had a deep love for animals, especially the cats and dogs who were beloved family members. His soft spot for cats was well known and part of his gentle nature.
Steve's life was grounded in love-for his family, his friends, his animals, and his community. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, integrity, and stories that will be retold with joy and pride.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. Jude’s the Apostle Parish, 249 Whittenton St., Taunton, MA 02780. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in Stephen's honor to: South Shore Peer Recovery, 51 Cole Parkway, Scituate, MA 02066 or at https://southshorepeerrecovery.org/donate/

I was deeply saddened to hear of Stephen Lesperence's death. I can't put into words how devastated I am by his passing. His contagious laugh and ability to brighten any space will always remain a part of my memory. For all of us, Stephen Lesperance was a wise, humorous, and compassionate friend. particularly for anyone who worked on the GLX Project. His final amusing remarks at the Friday morning meeting will never be forgotten. May God give comfort to your family and friends.
