Bud went to his heavenly home on Monday, February 10, 2025 at age 96. (John 3:16)
He was born in Park River, North Dakota on June 6, 1928 to Stephen J. Magnusson and Esther (Swensrud) Magnusson and welcomed by his sister June. The family moved to Rothsay Minnesota when Bud was 16 years old.
Bud proudly served in the US army and was stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict. On June 5, 1949 he married the love of his life, Betty (McLaughlin) Magnusson. They made their home in Rothsay where they resided for 73 years. Bud and Betty raised their three daughters there, Stephanie (Allen) Aaberg, Karol (Duane) Carlsrud and Cheri (John) McLaughlin. Bud was the Rothsay Postmaster until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW, a Volunteer Fireman, an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and New Life Parish. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and golfing.
Preceded in death by his parents, his sister, June Hanson, brothers-in-law, Nord Hanson, Robert McLaughlin and Jack Hare, sister-in-law Connie Hare and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold and Freida McLaughlin.
Survived by his wife of 75 years, his children and sons-in-law, his cherished grandchildren, Gretchen (Jeff) Beil, Patrick (Colleen) Aaberg, Nathan (Stacy) Carlsrud, Anna (Scott) Manders, Jared (Joanna) Aaberg, Katie (Aaron) Mathis, Megan (Matt) Hall, Heidi (Craig) Campbell, great-grandchildren, Maggie (Mike) Orte, Molly (Jordan) Manley, Chloe Cantlon, Lily, Sam, and Finn Aaberg, Ava and Grayson Mathis, Nora, Magnus, Isaac and Esther Campbell, Carter and Jameson Hall and Connor Aaberg, great-great-grandchild, Aiden Orte, sister-in-law, Midge McLaughlin and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials preferred to Our Saviors Cemetery or PARTNERS.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2025 at New Life Lutheran Church in Rothsay, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Our Saviors Cemetery, Rothsay, MN at a later date
