Canandaigua – Stephen R. Malone, age 74, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 1, 2023, after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Neysa (Espanol) Malone; two sons, Bradford and Matthew Malone; two granddaughters, Hannah and Erin; five siblings, Richard Jeffrey (Anne) Malone, James Michael (Sharon) Malone, Jeanne (Joseph) Schalabba, Mary Jane (James) Rathbun and Jo-Anne (Patrick) Fleming; sister-in-law, Ilona Espanol; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was born in Buffalo and was the son of Richard and Virginia (Higgins) Malone. He was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy. Steve was a US Air Force veteran, serving with the military police from 1969-1973. He and Neysa were married on December 21, 1973 at St. Mary's Church. Steve was a sheriff deputy for Ontario County for a few years. He worked as a sales representative. Steve enjoyed boating on Canandaigua Lake and taught many family members how to ski. He and Neysa traveled extensively and Key West was one of their favorite places. Steve loved spending time with family and friends and seeing everyone at family reunions.
His memorial mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 17, at 11 am, at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Rochester at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
