Stephen McDonough Obituary
Mr. Stephen J. "Joe" McDonough, 83, of Milford MA, died Tuesday (October 8, 2024) at the Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Dolores A. (Perrier) McDonough.
Joe was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Joseph Frederick McDonough and the late Elsie Sylvia (Granholm) McDonough. He attended Milford public schools and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1959.
Joe proudly served as a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970, attaining the rank of SSGT.
Joe was also a longtime employee of the former Commonwealth Gas Company from which he retired in 1996 as a manager.
Joe was an avid golfer and also an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was also a longtime member of the Hoboken Citizens Club of Milford and had served as the club's Treasurer for close to 30 years.
Along with his beloved wife, Joe is survived by his 2 children: Timothy McDonough and his wife Tricia of Milford MA and Laurie Cahill and her husband Michael Cahill of Webster MA; his 4 grandchildren: Victoria Mann, Garrett Mann, Brittany Jacques and her husband Dan Jacques and Emily O'Loughlin and her husband Kevin O'Loughlin; his 2 great grandchildren: Briand Jacques and Johnny Jacques; his sister Janice Lavallee of Milford MA; also his 4 step-daughters: Carol Folino, Christine Bonci, Cynthia Slayton and Cathy Hall; also nieces & nephews.
Joe was the brother of the late Judith Rizoli and the late Jon McDonough.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday (October 15th) at 10am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow and a Private Committal Service of his cremains will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Milford MA at the convenience of the family. A visiting hour will be held Tuesday (October 15th) from 9am to 10am at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, prior to his Funeral Services.
